After seeing all of y'all's great cars and coffee pictures, I realized there isn't one in my area. So I'm going to do what any real Opponaut would do: organize one! The problem is, I have no idea where to start. I've got a venue (Peets Coffee with a huge lot,) and I'm going to email all the local car clubs to see if any of their members want to turn up. I'm also going to walk around my neighborhood asking all the guys with cool cars (Ferrari 308, Porsche 356, 63 Corvette, Cord 812 etc.) Is there anything I haven't thought of? Anything that makes a great cars and coffee? If so, I'd love to hear about it!

You could see if any luxury car dealerships want to bring a car or two out, you also might want to start a Facebook page

Got a venue. Done, but let me just ask real quick - have you crossed all your t's and dotted your i's? The best way to ensure your event is a flop is to get rousted by the cops!

Get some RSVP's. Not maybe. Nothing but a yes. Why? Because you want to make sure, with a new meet like this, you've got somethings and someones worthwhile. Neat cars that will get attention and that'll get people asking... so long as they belong to people who're happy to answer.

Step three (but maybe step 1b); get help! You're only one man. A few volunteers, maybe wearing a high-visibility vest (well, one each otherwise it'd look pretty funny) will make the difference between a disorganized gathering and a tidy park-up.

Also, don't over-book yourself. It's not typically a problem, unless you're advertizing on the radio and generating non-car-guy traffic, but having a bunch of cars show up with no place to park, in an ostensibly "public" parking lot is a recipe for disaster and no one wants to be associated with that.

Start small, my friend. It's easier to deal with a managable number of cars and people, especially if there's a friendship involved, a direct contact to this garage or that guy. It sounds silly, but I've seen meets go wrong when one bunch of assholes who don't like another bunch of assholes show up at the same meet. Even approved meets.

Anyway, I'm not an organizer. Not at all.

These are just some of my observations and I hope they help.

This.

The exotics dealer in St. Louis actually hosts a C&C event, along with some other dealerships in the area. Some crazy shit shows up there.

Course, I've never gone, because people are scary.

Where do you live? Are you positive there isn't already one? I've been looking for one in Cleveland for a year now and finally just found it today haha. Felt like an idiot but..

These are good ideas.. I didn't even think about the cops idea.
And the Peets coffee has a bentley/rolls/lotus/ferrari dealer a block away, so I might talk to them..
